Position Overview
Our veterinary clinic in Southport, CT is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to join our team. This role will support the day-to-day financial operations of the clinic, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and recordkeeping. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative and accounting skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
+ Process accounts payable invoices and prepare payments
+ Manage accounts receivable, including patient billing and collections follow-up
+ Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and financial records
+ Maintain accurate financial and accounting documentation
+ Assist with month-end closing activities and reporting
+ Enter and update accounting data within accounting software systems
+ Prepare deposits and track incoming payments
+ Support payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements as needed
+ Respond to client billing inquiries professionally and accurately
+ Collaborate with clinic management to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
+ Assist with general administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
+ Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
+ 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting clerk experience
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
+ Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
+ Excellent communication and customer service skills
+ Experience in a healthcare, medical, or veterinary setting is a plus
Schedule
+ Full-time, Monday through Friday
+ Standard business hours
+ Contract-to-hire opportunity available
