Woven Works is looking for a skilled, hands-on maker to support our prototyping team in Fairfield, CT. This freelance, part-time role is ideal for someone with experience in industrial design model making, prototype finishing, scenic fabrication, product mockups, or related hands-on craft disciplines. You'll help bring concepts to life through polished comps, appearance models, and functional mockups.

You're someone who enjoys working with your hands as much as your head, transforming rough concepts into polished, presentation-ready prototypes and mockups. You have a strong eye for detail and understand that the quality of a finish, the smoothness of a surface, or the accuracy of an assembly can make all the difference in how an idea is experienced.

You're resourceful, adaptable, and able to balance speed with quality, supporting rapid prototyping efforts without compromising craftsmanship. You work closely with designers, engineers, and team leads, contributing to a shared goal while remaining open to feedback and continuously improving your techniques.

• Execute hands-on fabrication work, including sanding, trimming, prepping, and finishing 3D printed parts
• Paint, detail, and refine product mockups and appearance models to presentation-quality standards
• Assemble high-quality prototypes, comps, and visual models for internal reviews and client presentations
• Support rapid prototyping builds under tight timelines, ensuring accuracy and craftsmanship
• Maintain organized work spaces, tools, and materials to support efficient workflow and safety standards
• Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and prototyping leads to meet deadlines and uphold quality expectations
• Contribute to continuous improvement of fabrication processes, techniques, and output quality
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ownership in delivering polished, client-ready work

• Experience with hands-on model making, prototyping, or fabrication within design, innovation, agency, or CPG environments.
• Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field is a plus
• Strong experience in product prototype finishing and high-quality mockup creation (including packaging comps)
• Background in scenic/prop fabrication or retail display fabrication is a plus
• Demonstrated craftsmanship with excellent attention to detail and a hands-on, maker-oriented mindset
