In addition, Smart Start offers comprehensive tutoring programs including in-class, face-to-face high-dosage tutoring to help struggling students close the learning gap.
The Job:Smart Start Education seeks one on one tutor to work with individual high school students in person Monday-Friday. Students have been identified as students who require additional support with all high school subjects. Students are from all grade levels, including 9th‑12th grades.
The tutor will work with students several times throughout the week at locations throughout Fairfield, CT.
Candidates must possess a valid CT teaching certificate.
The tutoring position begins as soon as possible and runs through the school year. Tutors must be available Monday through Friday 8-35 hours per week between the hours of 8am and 5:30pmand should plan to work several hours during the school day and after school as necessary.
* Applicants must be able to tutor ALL subjects including, but not limited to, calculus, physics, chemistry, history, and English. If you are unable to tutor in each area, we kindly ask that you reconsider your application.

- Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory.
*** Please note that applications with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered. - A valid CT teaching certificate-certificates from other states will not be accepted by the district
- Demonstrated experience of at least one year in teaching or tutoring, either within a school environment or another educational setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
- Mastery of concepts and skills, substantiating proficiency in the subject matter.
- Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred, although not required.
- Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
- Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
- Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
