Fiver is not a typical after school program or summer camp. Fiver is seeking a waterfront assistant for our unique, residential summer camp that serves 450 children ages 8 to 18 from systemically under-resourced communities in New York. The Waterfront Assistant will assist the waterfront director in overseeing and facilitating all waterfront activities, including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, for campers. This role ensures the safety and enjoyment of all participants, maintaining a secure and organized environment while promoting skill development, water safety, and environmentalism.

• Assist in leading and supervising waterfront activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing for campers of various ages and skill levels
• Provide instructions for safe and effective use of watercraft, swimming techniques, and fishing skills.
• Ensure all campers follow safety guidelines and camp rules during water activities.
• Assist in the organization and maintenance of waterfront equipment, ensuring everything is properly stored and cared for.
• Encourage environmental awareness and respect for the lake and surrounding natural areas by teaching campers about the local ecosystem.

• At least 19 years old by June 2026
• Strong background in swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and/or fishing, with the ability to teach and guide campers in these activities.
• Lifeguard certification required

During their experience at Camp Fiver, the Waterfront Assistant will gain many transferable skills such as leadership, effective communication, time management, strategic thinking, behavior management and youth development best practices.

Fiver offers a $100 referral bonus in the first paycheck for every counselor/staff member that you refer, is hired, & arrives at camp for staff training.

Located in beautiful Upstate New York, Camp Fiver is a four-hour trip from New York City and is 45 minutes southeast of Syracuse. Camp Fiver’s 129-acre property includes a lake, a river, woodlands, a learning center, dining hall, horse barn and more. Counselors live at Camp Fiver for all 4, 12-day sessions (off days will be discussed thoroughly during staff training) including one and a half weeks of training prior to camp.
