The Connecticut Audubon Society offers nature-based summer camp programs for children ages 5–13 at multiple centers across the state. These programs provide children with immersive outdoor experiences centered on nature, science, and exploration. The Summer Camp Teacher-Naturalist reports to the Summer Camp Director.
Responsibilities:
- Teach outdoor science and nature programming to children ages 5–13 in an outdoor setting
- Prepare and implement curriculum on a variety of topics that help children experience the outdoors through hands-on activities, games, hikes, guided nature exploration, and arts and crafts
- Support summer camp program logistics, including setup, cleanup, and materials preparation
- Participate in required pre-camp training
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience working with children and/or in natural history or ecology
- College-level coursework in education and/or natural sciences
- Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus
Salary is hourly and based on experience.
