Assistant Teaching Professor, Modern Languages and Literatures

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Fairfield University seeks applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor of Spanish, with an emphasis in Latin Americanstudies and culture, to begin in the fall of 2027, pending finalbudget approval. Teaching responsibilities include four classes per semester (with a maximum of three preparations). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses at all levels ofour Spanish undergraduate curriculum, including elementary andintermediate-level courses.

Candidates should have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the university level. Previous experience havingcoordinated Spanish language programs at the undergraduate levelwill be greatly valued. We seek candidates who will contribute tothe University's core curriculum priorities of writing across the curriculum, social justice, and interdisciplinarity. The successful candidate should expect to participate in department, college and university-wide service, and may contribute to otherinterdisciplinary programs in the Meditz College of Arts and Sciences.

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures consists of 15full-time faculty members, teaching a dynamic curriculum and engaged in exciting faculty research representing a range offields, such as peninsular and Latin American literature andcinema, cultural studies, linguistics, translation, or Spanish for specific purposes.
