Employees are eligible for a lump sum hiring bonus of $2,000. The bonus will be paid in two parts: $1,000 after the employee has completed three months of satisfactory full-time probationary employment and $1,000 after the employee has completed twelve months of satisfactory full-time employment. The employees must meet all requirements contained in civil service regulation 6.32 to receive the bonus.

Job Description
This is certified medical technology work performing complex diagnostic laboratory tests in the analysis of human tissue and body fluids in a clinical laboratory. An employee in this class performs a variety of laboratory tests using complex methods in a variety of fields, which include clinical chemistry, microbiology, advanced molecular microbiology, immunology, urinalysis and hematology. Work includes providing technical guidance and training to lower level technicians, troubleshooting instrumentation and testing problems, compiling information, reporting results from analysis/research findings and recommending process improvements.
ANTICIPATEDELIGIBILITY
Candidates who meet all eligibility requirements within 3 months of the Final date to receive applications will be admitted to this examination. Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list but may not be hired or promoted until all requirements have been satisfied.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCESix (6) months of experience performing diagnostic laboratory tests in the analysis of human tissue and body fluids in a public health clinical laboratory or other clinical laboratory setting.
CERTIFICATIONCertification as one of the following:
By the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) as:
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or
- Medical Technologist (MT), or
- Chemistry (C), or
- Certification by the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or
- Certification in a related area by Health Education and Welfare (HEW) or equivalent national certifying agency.
