The safety and compliance coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of safety excellence. The safety and compliance coordinator serves as the primary liaison for customer safety compliance documentation and manages all aspects of safety training and record keeping across the organization, making a significant impact on the organizational safety culture while supporting business objectives and maintaining operational excellence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements
- Successfully balance safety and regulatory requirements with operational efficiency
- Effective leadership of safety committee and cross-departmental initiatives
- Ensure all implemented SOPs and safety requirements are practical and consistently followed
- Navigate and manage customer safety compliance documentation and submittals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety training records for all personnel
- Develop and manage internal safety documentation and record-keeping systems
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations
- Coordinate safety audits and inspections with regulatory agencies and customers
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements for on-site work
- Lead incident investigations
- Chair and serve as primary driver of the company safety committee
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in workplace safety
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Conduct thorough analysis of business implications before implementing new safety requirements
- Balance safety excellence with operational efficiency to maintain productivity
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for all departments
- Coordinate with department managers to ensure proper safety documentation and training completion
- Lead and facilitate safety meetings and communicate safety updates across the organization
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, implementing corrective actions as needed
- Work closely with various departments to ensure consistent safety reporting
- Support field teams in maintaining site safety documentation requirements
- Collaborate with management to integrate safety considerations into business operations
- Provide safety expertise and guidance to project teams and operations staff
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, relating to internal and external customers
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement and safety excellence
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other job‑related software
- BS degree in Occupational Safety or related field (4 years of relevant experience can be substituted for degree)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Safety coordination or related role
- OSHA 30‑Hour Certification, can be completed upon hire
- CPR and First Aid Certification, can be completed upon hire
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in construction, manufacturing or industrial environments
