Job Summary – Data Center Network Deployment Technician

The Data Center Network Deployment Technician is responsible for hands‑on, on‑site execution of large‑scale data center network deployments, upgrades, and infrastructure installations. This role bridges network design and implementation by accurately interpreting deployment plans, executing installation and commissioning activities, and ensuring seamless service migrations with minimal downtime.

Working closely with customers, project managers, and cross‑functional teams, the technician ensures reliable, standards‑compliant operation of critical data center infrastructure. This role provides exposure to hyperscale environments and cutting‑edge data center technologies while contributing directly to the successful delivery of complex network deployment projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install server racks per approved floor plans, ensuring proper grounding and safety compliance
  • Deploy primary and secondary PDUs for AC cage infrastructure
  • Install DC power supplies and fuse panels for DC cage environments
  • Perform rack‑and‑stack activities for servers and network equipment
  • Install OEM switches and chassis (1RU to 45RU), including line cards
  • Safely handle and install equipment using server lifts
  • Commission console and management switches
  • Execute network installations in accordance with Telcordia standards
  • Load ISO configurations on Windows and Linux servers
  • Perform rack swaps and capacity upgrades with minimal service disruption
  • Install servers, switches, and routers from major OEM vendors
  • Configure data center networks using 3‑Tier and Spine‑Leaf architectures
  • Execute network migrations across multiple cages, floors, and data center locations
  • Install fiber patch panels, ODFs, interconnects, and permanent fiber links
  • Install and manage copper and fiber cabling (LC, SC, MPO, RJ‑45, breakout cabling)
  • Handle fiber optics and transceivers ranging from 1G to 400G
  • Test and troubleshoot hardware and network components on site
  • Perform device recovery, zeroization, and base configuration via CLI/GUI
  • Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, including cleaning and scoping
  • Interpret EDP (Equipment Deployment Plan) and DPK (Data Patching Key) documentation
  • Validate patching accuracy and endpoint connectivity
  • Troubleshoot fiber and network issues during deployment and migration windows
  • Provide regular progress updates, risk identification, and technical reporting
  • Support pre-checks, post-installation testing, UAT, and final handover activities
  • Ensure all technical and documentation requirements are met prior to sign-off
Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience in data center installation, deployment, or maintenance
  • Prior experience supporting infrastructure or network deployment projects
  • Ability to read and interpret network design documents and blueprints
  • Hands‑on experience with server racks, PDUs, DC power systems, and fuse panels
  • Familiarity with rack‑and‑stack operations for servers and switches
  • Exposure to OEM switch installations and line card handling
  • Knowledge of fiber and cabling standards (1G–400G)
  • Understanding of Telcordia installation standards
  • Experience loading ISO configurations on Windows and Linux systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills during live network changes
