The Role
The Senior Advisor, Philanthropy Communications, will lead philanthropy communications for our US Programs. You will develop high-quality content to engage high-value donors across individual, corporate, and foundation donor audiences. Content will span donor proposals and reports, fact sheets, emergency briefs, microsites, and compelling storytelling. The successful candidate will help grow and diversify resources for our US work by engaging, expanding and mobilizing key philanthropic audiences.
Location
Hybrid – Washington DC, Fairfield, CT or Lexington, KY office locations
- Develop Compelling Fundraising Content for US programs (60%). Lead end-to-end creation and editing of content from US national, state, and technical staff to produce final donor-facing products including reports, proposals, concept notes, and fact sheets.
- Develop excellent communications materials with emphasis on best practices for leveraging digital capabilities, videos, interactive graphs, and a mix of short and long content.
- Coordinate with the Marketing & Growth Operations Strategy team and the US Programs Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Research and Learning team to incorporate impact data and evidence-based insights into donor communications.
- Ensure products are grammatically correct, logically flowing, clearly presented, and properly branded for donors’ levels of technical knowledge.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Growth Operations Strategy, US Programs, Campaign, Marketing, and Communications to reflect latest thought leadership, ambition, and evidence in US philanthropic communications.
- Develop subject matter expertise on US programs, partners, and impact; monitor peer activity to differentiate Save the Children in the donor market.
- Develop, approve, and continuously refine donor messaging related to US program priorities; ensure fundraisers have needed information to execute campaigns and external engagement efforts.
- Interact with fundraisers and program staff to understand projects and donor needs; request additional information as needed to complete projects.
- Lead knowledge management for US programs philanthropic communications; update internal trackers and Save Net pages in coordination with the US Programs Advisor.
- Surge on US-program related communications for public donors as needed.
- Support other Impact Communications work for international programs, policy and advocacy.
- Collaborate with the Advisor, US Program Private Partnerships to connect US Program staff, fundraisers and donor audiences with a joined-up donor strategy and communications narrative.
The Role
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Strong professional writing skills with ability to engage high-value donors.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical program information to high-net-worth donors with varying levels of technical sophistication.
- Adept at sourcing and displaying multimedia assets (photos, videos, graphics) in our internal repository.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal and external partners at all levels.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, manage and execute high-level communications products.
- Project management skills and experience working as part of an international team.
- Attention to detail and ability to translate complex program language into donor-friendly content.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and in teams, meet deadlines, and adapt to change.
- Professional proficiency in MS Office and in English (spoken and written).
