Job Summary

A call Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is part of a core team that provides 24/7 anesthetic and emergency care. The position is full‑time, flexible, and requires availability for off‑shifts, weekends, and holidays. The call CRNA works closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians, delivering patient‑centric anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures, maintaining patient safety, and supporting continuity of care within scope of practice standards.

• Implement accurate, safe, patient‑centric anesthetic care for all surgical procedures.
• Understand the physiologic implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures, constantly monitoring vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry per ASA guidelines.
• Ensure appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements, protecting all information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
• Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
• Continuously engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency.

• Education
  • Completion of an accredited Certified Nurse Anesthetist Training Program.
  • Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Current State of Connecticut Nursing License, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure.
• Experience
  • Preferred clinical working experience as a CRNA within the specialty/service line recommended, though not required.
  • Must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process.
  • Evidence of current competence to practice as an APRN, PA, CRNA, or CNM via reference letters from physicians and other practitioners.
• Licensure
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (AANA) certification
  • State of CT RN and APRN license
  • ACLS, DEA registration, and State of CT Controlled Substance registration
• Special Skills
  • Sharp concentration, calm under stressful conditions, and the ability to stay composed during emergencies.
  • Effective communication with surgeons, the surgical support team, patients, and families.
  • Immediate and responsive anesthetic patient management.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing clinical environments.
• Physical Demand

  Stand for long periods, wear lead as needed for fluoroscopy or X‑ray cases, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform movements that coordinate gross and fine muscular functions. Must observe patients accurately at both distance and close, respond to monitoring alarms, and navigate patient care environments safely. Full physical and mental stamina, and the ability to handle stressful workloads are required.
