SummaryAs an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient centered care. The RN practices professional nursing as a registered nurse within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model.

- Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family, integrating cultural and diversity considerations into practice.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with the patient, family and healthcare team members.
- Respect the patient's values, preferences and expressed needs throughout data collection, care planning and evaluation.
- Apply the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice (2015) during assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate care delivery and transitions in care, ensuring continuity and safety.
- Teach and promote health, employing strategies that foster a safe environment.
- Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes and adjust care accordingly.
- Demonstrate professional performance aligned with ANA Standards of Professional Performance (2015) including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality of practice, and environmental health.
- Lead within the professional setting, offering mentorship and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school (BSN preferred).
- Current BCLS certification (or obtain within one month of hire).
- Licensed and currently registered in the State of Connecticut; clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to ethical practice, cultural competence, and professional accountability.

Unit InformationHVC Cardiac Medical Intermediate Care Unit (5‑2 SP): 26‑bed cardiovascular medicine inpatient unit focusing on management of coronary artery disease and dysrhythmias.
HVC Cardiac Surgery Intermediate Care and Step‑Down Unit (5‑3 SP): 25‑bed cardiac surgery unit with step‑down beds for post‑operative care.
HVC Cardiac Intermediate Care and Stepdown Unit (V3E): 30‑bed unit at Saint Raphael Campus, caring for cardiac procedures, heart failure, and electrophysiology patients.
HVC Cardiac Intermediate Care–Advanced Heart Failure and Stroke Unit (V5E): 29‑bed unit at Saint Raphel Campus specializing in advanced heart failure, stroke, and related medical issues.
HVC Cardiac Medical Intermediate Care Unit (5‑7 EP): 26‑bed telemetry unit for general cardiology, post‑cardiac procedure, heart failure, and vascular surgery patients.
