Student Health Center Nurse
Provides nursing treatment for Fairfield University students; provides operational support within the Student Health Center; assists with health education for individual patients as well as health education outreach.
Access to confidential medical information; ability to function during peak periods of demand for health care; exposure to all types of illnesses and blood borne pathogens.
Registered Nurse in CT;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred. Continuing education in late adolescent issues. CPR certification is required.
3-5 years nursing experience, demonstrated interpersonal skills. Emergency room experience helpful.

Assistant Director of Health Center
This is a 12-month position at 37.5 hours/week.
Essential Functions:
- Provides nursing treatment for Fairfield University students. Ensures compliance with physician/APRN orders, the Nurse Practice Act, and established departmental policies and procedures. This involves:
- conducting an initial nursing assessment of the patient, and working with the physician/APRN to implement a diagnostic/treatment plan,
- administering medications and treatment plans as prescribed by physician/APRN
- administering immunizations, and updates as prescribed by physician/APRN,
- assisting physician/APRN in emergency procedures,
- interacting with Public Safety, Student Services, Academic and other University departments, as needed,
- arranging transportation for students to hospital, doctor's office, therapy, immediate care, etc.,
- fostering an environment of trust and caring necessary within a health facility,
- maintaining SHC required nursing competencies.
- Provides operational support within the SHC. This involves:
- maintaining, documenting and updating medical records,
- scheduling referral appointments for students,
- facilitating physician/APRN review of incoming diagnostic testing reports
- Assists with the preparation and execution of preventative, wellness and other health educational programs.
- Supports the Health Center by providing the following:
- greeting, assisting and referring visitors, students and telephone callers,
- responding to routine and complex requests for information and other oral communication.
- Develops competency utilizing Information Technology Services at Fairfield University. This includes:
- accessing and maintaining working knowledge of Banner computer system,
- accessing and maintaining working knowledge of the Gallagher-Student Health Insurance web-site,
- accessing and maintaining working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and the my.fairfield web platform.
- accessing and maintaining working knowledge of the Medicat Practice Management system.
- Promotes safe working conditions. This involves:
- promoting the proper utilization of equipment and materials,
- notifying the SHC Director and/or Campus Operations department immediately of any unsafe working conditions,
- adhering to Infection Control Policy and Procedure.
- Participates in the growth and development of the Health Center. This involves:
- remaining informed of national, university and departmental health concerns and procedures for effective treatment, communication and education,
- monitoring developments in health care through attendance at workshops and seminars as well as the reading of professional literature,
- attending departmental staff meetings,
- communicating effectively with the SHC Director concerning pertinent departmental and university matters,
- promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the university community and promoting an image consistent with the SHC/university mission,
- promoting and supporting the Fairfield University Mission and Identity.
- Participates in SHC committee work as assigned by the SHC Director;
Examples include: - The SHC Risk Management Committee which is charged with implementing and maintaining a program of risk management designed to protect the life and welfare of the SHC's patients and employees.
- The SHC Quality Improvement Committee which is charged with setting the quality improvement priorities and standards, as well as the oversight, coordination and development of quality improvement activities.
- Performs other duties as directed.

- Administering allergy desensitization injections
