Starting from on April 1, 2026 (or later). For the new professorship AI-based Robotics at the Institute of Robotics and Process Informatics we are looking for a

Postdoc in the field of AI-based Robotics (m/f/d)
(EG 13 TV-L, full-time/part-time)

The position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis for 3 years. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity for further scientific qualification (e.g. habilitation).

The new AI-based Robotics professorship at the Institute of Robotics and Process Informatics will start in April 2026. We are shaping the future of intelligent, industry-ready robotics systems. Based on our expertise in applied machine learning for industrial robotics, distributed automation and control systems, human-centered assistance, and cognitive ergonomics, we develop AI-driven robotics that integrates seamlessly into real-world working environments.

Our vision is to create adaptive, networked, and human-centered robotics systems that make industrial processes more intelligent and provide targeted support for human work. To this end, we combine modern AI methods with robust distributed architecture concepts and a clear focus on safety, comprehensibility, and practical applicability.

We offer a unique profile: intelligent, scalable robotics that is not only powerful, but also collaborative, explainable, and ergonomically effective. In research and teaching, we rely on interdisciplinary approaches, open collaboration, and prototypical implementations to responsibly anchor AI-based robotics in industry.

  • You will carry out your own research ideas and increase your visibility in the scientific community.
  • You will publish research results and participate in national and international conferences.
  • You will supervise courses and student work and develop new courses.
  • You will apply for and support the processing of research projects.

Your Qualifications

  • You have a doctorate in robotics.
  • You have your own research topics and excellent publications and are interested in continuing and expanding these topics.
  • You have experience in successfully acquiring third-party funding.
  • You have an excellent professional network in science and/or industry.
  • You have very good written and spoken German and English skills.
  • Optional:
    You are pursuing a habilitation.
