Research Associate Position: iPSC Culture

A full time position is available in the Wolozin laboratory as a research associate managing our iPSC lines. Please contact Ben Wolozin if interested: bwolozin

Join our exciting research team investigating the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. My laboratory has a strong program that uses human iPSCs to create 3D assembloids of neurons, astrocytes and microglia. We use these assembloids to model human disease, and indeed they develop many of the features seen in patients with the diseases. The successful candidate will manage the iPSC facility, maintaining iPSC lines, differentiating these iPSCs, creating the assembloids and then investigating the disease processes.

You will also be encouraged to develop your own research project, often in collaboration with someone else in the lab.

The choice of research projects will be decided based on your interests, who you like working with and the fit with existing project needs in the laboratory. Visit our lab website to gain information on the range of projects: (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Generally, our lab investigates the interaction between persistent stress, RNA metabolism and disease. We do this using a variety of approaches including the study of human brain samples, human 3D iPSC organoid cultures, genetically modified mouse models and cell lines.

We use approaches that include transcriptomics, proteomics, cell biology, etc.. The applicant must be strongly motivated, able to work independently and possess a strong ability to organize data. In addition, have good interpersonal skills. The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree and prior laboratory experience. Compensation is dependent on experience.

Required Skills/experience:

  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Preference given to candidates who also have experience with cell biology or molecular biology, plasmid preparation, FACS, microscopy and/or immunofluorescence
  • IPSC experience is not expected, but would be a big plus
