Assistant for Art Department and Wege Center

The Assistant will provide essential support to the Art Department and the Wege Center by ensuring a conducive environment for artistic endeavors and exhibitions, through the facilitation of various departmental activities related to classes, workshops, gallery receptions, residencies, etc.

This position is ideal for Art Majors, seeking to acquire versatile skills applicable to gallery management, art education, studio administration, art space maintenance for art-related jobs or personal studio management.

Increase familiarity with gallery and studio restoration and maintenance practices.

Engage in hands-on experience with various art materials and equipment.

Elevate understanding of standard safety protocols in work environments.

Gain exposure to art administration practices.

Develop skills that are desirable for future art programs, internships, residencies, education, gallery, art administration-related career paths, and for personal studio management and administration.

Clean and organize specialty facilities and equipment to maintain a conducive environment for artistic activities.

Assist in the maintenance of wall displays and exhibition spaces.

Prepare and manage art materials to support ongoing projects and exhibitions.

Support in the smooth functioning of activities such as classes, workshops, gallery receptions, residencies, etc.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Ability and willingness to engage in physical labor, including lifting moderate weights, climbing ladders, and performing repetitive tasks.

Adherence to safety guidelines and protocols while working with industrial materials.

Openness to receiving feedback and a proactive attitude towards improving performance.
