Women's Basketball Head Coach

ABOUT

THE ROLE

Build and lead Maharishi International University (MIU)'s women's basketball program as founding Head Coach. This unique opportunity allows you to shape a collegiate basketball program from the ground up while pioneering the integration of Consciousness-Based Sports (CBS) methodology at the varsity level. As MIU pursues NAIA membership, you'll serve as both architect and ambassador for a program that embodies competitive excellence, holistic athlete development, and "The Pioneer Way."

This startup environment offers significant creative freedom but requires navigating limited infrastructure. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial coach who thrives building something transformative from scratch, brings extensive recruiting networks, and is excited to integrate CBS methodology. Basketball's fast-paced, team-oriented nature makes it uniquely suited for consciousness-based training emphasizing flow states and collective awareness.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Building & Strategic Vision

* Design comprehensive program development plans including recruiting strategy, system philosophy, training methodology, and culture-building aligned with MIU's mission and Pioneer framework

* Develop operational systems for roster management, scheduling, and budget management while serving as primary ambassador for MIU women's basketball

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition (Primary Emphasis)

* Execute aggressive recruiting strategies targeting domestic and international student-athletes

* Leverage existing networks with high school coaches, AAU directors, and recruiting coordinators

* Attend AAU tournaments, showcases, and recruiting events throughout the year

* Manage recruiting communications, organize campus visits, and collaborate with Admissions/Financial Aid on financial packages

Coaching & Player Development

* Design training programs developing skills, basketball IQ, and athletic performance across the Four Levels of Performance (Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, Physical)

* Integrate CBS principles and Transcendental Meditation into daily training, emphasizing the "inside-out" approach to peak performance

* Lead practice sessions with periodization strategies and create game strategies balancing offensive/defensive systems

* Foster team culture grounded in Pioneer identity: connection to Self, emotional empowerment, complete approach to performance, and collective excellence

Team Operations & Competition Management

* Schedule competitive games, coordinate logistics for practices and travel, and develop game-day operations

* Manage team budget and ensure full compliance with NAIA regulations, university policies, and Title IX requirements

Consciousness-Based Sports Integration

* Participate in CBS training workshops to master the methodology and Four Levels of Performance framework

* Lead daily team meditation sessions and create environments facilitating peak performance states through CBS techniques

* Apply CBS principles to basketball demands (team chemistry, momentum management, split-second decision-making, composure under pressure)

Professional Development & Collaboration

* Attend CBS Athletics Department meetings, coaching education sessions, and NAIA development opportunities

* Represent MIU at coaching clinics and events to build networks while collaborating with athletic staff on program growth

Minimum Qualifications

* Demonstrated success coaching women's basketball at the collegiate, club, or elite high school level

* Proven recruiting track record with strong industry references and established networks

* Deep understanding of basketball systems, player development, and game strategy

* Superior communication skills for recruiting, mentorship, and program representation

* Availability for irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and extensive recruiting travel

* Current CPR/First Aid certification

Preferred Qualifications

* Collegiate head or associate head coaching experience, particularly in startup programs

* Experience as a collegiate basketball athlete

* NAIA/NCAA compliance knowledge and understanding of Title IX requirements

* Extensive recruiting networks in basketball-strong regions

* Experience with mental training, sports psychology, or holistic performance methodologies
