In partnership with the Payroll Manager, who oversees daily payroll processing, this role ensures non-routine payroll activities are complete, accurate, approved, and delivered on schedule. Reporting is focused on practical operational needs, exceptions, reconciliations, and management insights rather than a large-scale reporting function.

Create and maintain practical payroll reports, exception summaries, reconciliations, trackers, forms, checklists, and standardized intake templates. Analyze recurring exceptions, errors, and process trends; provide clear insights and recommendations to the Director of Payroll and business partners. Maintain SOPs, desk guides, workflow documentation, training materials, and version control for assigned processes.

Controls, Compliance & Reconciliations

Perform data validation, reasonableness reviews, and reconciliations for assigned payroll programs and special payment files. Support SOX controls, audit requests, and compliance activities by maintaining evidence of approvals, reviews, reconciliations, and issue resolution. Escalate recurring errors, control concerns, and compliance risks to the Director of Payroll.

Process Improvement, Systems & Partnership

Identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen payroll processes, templates, controls, and handoffs. Lead or support payroll projects, system enhancements, user acceptance testing, workflow changes, and implementation validation.
