About the RoleThe Specification Consultant will develop and maintain a strong presence within the specification and contractor communities, grow a project pipeline reflective of market opportunities, and increase awareness of Legrand’s electrical and data communication infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate is accountable for meeting and exceeding territory quota.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a network of internal and external customers, including architecture and engineering design communities, contractors, and end users.
- Write and secure product specifications while influencing key specification decisions.
- Establish relationships with architectural & engineering firms through design assistance, implementation of Legrand Master Spec, and continuing education seminars.
- Build relationships with electrical contractors, providing design assistance, solution training, and project management support.
- Engage with major end users in key vertical markets.
- Collaborate with the Legrand sales force and support local sales teams at targeted distribution partners, including business reviews, training, and trade shows.
- Maximize use of sales tools, including daily CRM usage, and optimize time and territory management.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent construction industry experience.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of sales and/or marketing or 10+ years in electrical, communications, construction, A/V technology, engineering, architecture, or interior design.
- Skills/knowledge/abilities:
- Proficient negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to creatively demonstrate product concepts and lead teams through the construction sales process.
- Experience in creating specification documents, engineering drawings, submittals, and budgetary analysis.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email, and web‑based resources.
- Excellent communication skills for one‑to‑one and group presentations, and for maintaining positive customer relationships.
