Overview
Manufacturing Engineer needed for a leading manufacturing company. The role focuses on identifying waste, defining value streams, productivity optimization, Kanban setups, takt time studies, labor tracking, ergonomics, material flow, PFMEA, and Lean Six Sigma tools.
Responsibilities- Analyze blueprints, specifications, model files (CAD) and other documentation to prepare accurate simulations and data sets for manufacturing projects, including insert injection molding of thermoplastics, precision machined components, and complex sub-assemblies for the Med Tech industry.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Solutions Architecture Teams to drive new business opportunities and improve competitive advantage through systems engineering and Industry 4.0 practices.
- Gather actual cost data, historical quotes (tooling costs/lead-times, engineering resource utilization, and manufacturing standards) to refine quotations and support growth.
- Partner with IT/ERP teams and manufacturing to expand real-time data collection and adopt new systems for data acquisition and process optimization.
- Develop detailed cost models for materials, labor, equipment, and other resources, and identify optimization opportunities beyond the provided prints/models.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness across process steps.
- Generate internal business cases with projected ROI for Cap Ex and determine site viability based on costs, labor availability, and capacity utilization.
- Utilize Solid Works and CAD/CAM for product DFM and proposal conceptualization; deploy tools to facilitate data acquisition and analysis (e.g., Minitab, Sage, Flex Sim, Paperless Parts or similar).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, or Value Engineering).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in value engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing costing, and related roles in manufacturing, with experience in Industry 4.0 and related practices.
- Experience working for a Contract Manufacturer or OEM.
- Strong engineering background with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency with Solid Works or equivalent CAD/CAM software for estimating and DFM.
- Experience in product-level design for manufacture (DFM) and the ability to collaborate across engineering Centers of Excellence for multi-plant proposals.
- Salary up to $135,000 per year.
