The Business Banker will develop and manage client accounts for the Business Banking Division, ensuring these accounts meet established requirements and maximize profitability while maintaining minimal risk.
Responsibilities- Represent the bank by conducting active prospecting and customer business development activities, generating new loans, deposits, and related business while meeting client needs.
- Manage relationships with business banking clients through service and support, overseeing account maintenance and ensuring client needs are met.
- Establish a strong referral network with commercial real estate agents, brokers, CPAs, accountants, attorneys, and other Centers of Influence.
- Develop professional relationships across Bank departments and supplemental business lines to cross‑sell and recommend appropriate products and services.
- Collaborate with other lines of business to meet clients’ specific needs.
- Provide quality customer service to existing customers, resolve problems, and maintain consistent communication via onsite visits and outbound calls.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of policies and Bank guidelines for the business line.
- Refer opportunities in lending, treasury management, insurance, residential mortgage, and deposit relationships to bank partners.
- Participate in community activities to promote the Bank’s products, maintain professional networks, and strengthen community ties.
- Interview loan applicants, analyze financial data to establish creditworthiness, negotiate terms, and monitor credit.
- Monitor outstanding loans and take necessary collection actions on past‑due amounts.
- Educate borrowers on business process, structure, and expectations.
- Analyze, determine eligibility, originate, and structure loan requests.
- Submit complete documentation packages for credit, assist in credit analysis and underwriting as needed.
- Recommend approval of customer applications for commercial loans.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and organize assignments while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Intermediate PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and referral tracking programs such as Sales Force.
- High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of related bank lending sales experience, or a combination of sales/credit analysis experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance with a minimum of 3 years of bank lending sales experience and at least 1 year of credit analysis experience is preferred.
