Desktop Support Specialist

Location: Fairfield, NJ

Schedule: 100% Onsite

Duration: Direct Hire – Full time position

Salary: 60-65k

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Desktop Support Specialist to provide hands-on technical support to onsite employees. This role is focused on day-to-day desktop, hardware, software, and network support, ensuring minimal downtime and a positive end-user experience. The ideal candidate thrives in an onsite environment and enjoys being the go-to person for IT support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support for end users

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues (desktops, laptops, printers, phones, scanners, etc.)

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows desktop and laptop systems

  • Manage user accounts, access, and permissions in Active Directory and Microsoft 365

  • Support onboarding and offboarding (new user setup, hardware provisioning, reclaiming equipment)

  • Document incidents, resolutions, assets, and configurations in a ticketing system

  • Escalate complex issues to internal IT teams or vendors as needed

  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and software licensing

  • Support meeting room and video conferencing technologies

  • Partner with internal IT teams and managed service providers (MSPs)

Required Qualifications
  • 1 3 years of experience in Desktop Support, IT Support, or Help Desk roles

  • Strong experience supporting Windows environments

  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, One Drive)

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues

  • Familiarity with ticketing systems

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fully onsite environment

  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications

  • Experience supporting VOIP/phones and basic networking

  • Exposure to server or infrastructure troubleshooting

  • Experience working with MSPs
