- Why This Role Exists

This role exists to  strengthen and lead the lathe department  as International Tool & Manufacturing continues supporting long-term, defense-related machining programs.

The shop focuses on  tight-tolerance prototype and short-run work , not high-volume production. This position plays a key role in ensuring quality, consistency, and on-time delivery for complex parts where experience truly matters.

- The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

Set up and operate  Mazak CNC lathes  (single-turret, horizontal)

Program and edit jobs directly at the machine using  Mazatrol

Machine  tight-tolerance prototype and short-run parts

Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements

Select tooling, offsets, feeds, speeds, and work holding

Perform in-process and first-article inspections

Work independently with ownership of jobs from setup through completion

Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area

Contribute ideas and improvements within the lathe department

This is a hands-on, senior-level role — not a button-pushing production position.

Mazak CNC Lathes (single-turret, horizontal)

Inspection Tools:

Standard shop inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges)

- What We’re Looking For

Required

10+ years of CNC machining experience

Strong background in  CNC lathe machining

Hands-on experience with  Mazak machines and Mazatrol

Ability to consistently hold  tight tolerances

Experience in  job shop / prototype environments

Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Quality-first mindset and strong attention to detail

Preferred (Not Required)

Defense or regulated industry experience

Experience working with a wide variety of materials
