This role exists to strengthen and lead the lathe department as International Tool & Manufacturing continues supporting long-term, defense-related machining programs.

The shop focuses on tight-tolerance prototype and short-run work
, not high-volume production. This position plays a key role in ensuring quality, consistency, and on-time delivery for complex parts where experience truly matters.

In this role, you will:

• Set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes (single-turret, horizontal)
• Program and edit jobs directly at the machine using Mazatrol
• Machine tight-tolerance prototype and short-run parts
• Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements
• Select tooling, offsets, feeds, speeds, and work holding
• Perform in-process and first-article inspections
• Work independently with ownership of jobs from setup through completion
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
• Contribute ideas and improvements within the lathe department

This is a hands-on, senior-level role — not a button-pushing production position.

You’ll work with equipment such as:

• Machines: Mazak CNC Lathes (single-turret, horizontal)
• Controls: Mazatrol
• Inspection Tools: Standard shop inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges)

Required

• 10+ years of CNC machining experience
• Strong background in CNC lathe machining
• Hands-on experience with Mazak machines and Mazatrol
• Ability to consistently hold tight tolerances
• Experience in job shop / prototype environments
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Quality-first mindset and strong attention to detail

Preferred (Not Required)

• Defense or regulated industry experience
• Experience working with a wide variety of materials
