Job Description

Job Summary

The Technical Specialist provides technical expertise in chemical testing and regulatory requirements for consumer products to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. This role supports laboratory operations by interpreting standards, resolving technical issues, and advising internal teams and clients on compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on consumer product safety, regulatory compliance, and testing requirements.
  • Interpret U.S. and Canadian regulations, standards, and test methods.
  • Provide technical support to sales and account managers during client engagements.
  • Prepare test plans, test protocols, and other technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure consistent interpretation and application of regulations, standards, and test requirements.
  • Participate in Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and industry associations.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for clients, retailers, suppliers, laboratories, and internal personnel.
  • Create presentations, webinars, technical bulletins, guidance documents, and customer-facing educational materials.
  • Support initiatives and contribute expertise to technical service development and process improvement projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed according to established timelines, and client expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including manufacturers, importers, retailers, industry associations, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • At least 3 years of experience in a testing laboratory, or consumer product compliance role
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian chemical regulations and restricted substance programs, such as CPSIA, California Proposition 65, PFAS-related requirements, etc.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and test methods.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying technical standards, regulatory requirements, and test methods.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience preparing test protocols, regulatory interpretations, and customer-facing training materials.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Additional Information

Compensation

The expected salary for this position is $64,000 to 86,000 per year. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
