Location: Fairfield, NJ - onsite

Employment Type: Part-Time (20-30 hours per week)

Position Summary

The Part Time
Quality Control (QC) Specialist is responsible for performing quality control activities to ensure raw materials, in-process batches, and finished fragrance products meet established specifications and quality standards.

This is a hands-on, lab-based role supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations. The QC Specialist will also work closely with Operations and R&D to support product quality, consistency, and compliance with internal standards.

Key Responsibilities Quality Control Execution
  • Perform QC testing on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished goods in accordance with established procedures.
  • Evaluate product quality using analytical, physical, and sensory testing methods (as applicable).
  • Document and maintain accurate test results, batch records, and QC logs.
Batch Review & Release Support
  • Review batch documentation to ensure completeness and alignment with specifications.
  • Support batch release processes by verifying test results and documentation accuracy.
  • Communicate any quality concerns or discrepancies to appropriate stakeholders.
Deviation & Issue Support
  • Assist in the investigation of quality deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
  • Support root cause analysis and documentation of corrective actions.
  • Escalate issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
Quality Systems & Documentation
  • Maintain product specifications, COAs, and QC-related documentation.
  • Support adherence to internal quality standards and procedures.
  • Assist with SOP updates and documentation improvements as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations to support consistent production quality.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory, QC, Operations, and Commercial teams to support product lifecycle activities.
  • Support supplier qualification activities and ingredient or formulation changes from a regulatory and quality perspective.
  • Assist with documentation, SOP maintenance, and training related to regulatory and quality processes.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support QC and production needs.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field (required).
  • 2–5 years of experience in Quality Control within chemical, fragrance, cosmetic, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience with QC testing, specifications, documentation, and batch review processes.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or plant-adjacent environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, collaborative role within a growing organization.
