About the RoleThis is a growing mechanical contractor providing commercial HVAC and refrigeration service across Central and Northern New Jersey (excluding NYC). The company is a non union shop looking to add a Commercial HVAC Service Technician to its service team.
ScheduleFull time, with participation in an on call rotation required. Schedule flexibility is expected to support customer service needs outside standard hours.
Compensation$40 to $60 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
What You'll DoThe HVAC Technician will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, working to meet both customer expectations and industry standards. Day to day work includes conducting preventive maintenance to identify potential issues before they affect equipment reliability, diagnosing and repairing a range of commercial HVAC equipment, and coordinating with equipment vendors to source the correct parts for repairs.
The technician will communicate directly with customers about identified problems and recommended solutions, and will submit daily paperwork and service reports in a timely manner. Work is performed primarily outdoors and at client sites, with some office based tasks, and includes climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting up to fifty pounds as needed.
- 3 to 5 years of HVAC/R experience, including commercial systems
- EPA Universal certification
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (company vehicle provided)
- Ability to work an on call rotation and flexible schedule
- Ability to pass a pre employment substance screening and background check
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to fifty pounds
- Vocational or Associate degree in mechanical systems, electronics, or a related field
- Experience providing direct customer facing service and communicating repair recommendations to clients
