Part-Time Assistant Preschool Teacher

20-30 Hours per Week

Monday-Friday | Shifts Between 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Starting Pay: $15.00 per Hour

The East Butler YMCA Preschool is seeking a warm, energetic, and reliable Preschool Assistant Teacher to support our classroom community. If you love working with young children and are committed to helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally, this position offers meaningful work and a chance to build a career in early childhood education.

As an Assistant Teacher, you will partner with an experienced Lead Teacher to design and implement developmentally appropriate activities, maintain a nurturing environment, and support each child's learning journey. This role is ideal for those currently in childcare or for individuals who want to begin a rewarding path shaping young minds.

Responsibilities
  • Support children during daily routines, activities, and structured lessons
  • Assist in preparing and delivering creative, age-appropriate lesson plans
  • Encourage social, emotional, and language development through positive interactions
  • Keep the classroom organized, clean, and welcoming
  • Help supervise indoor and outdoor play to ensure safety at all times
  • Communicate respectfully with families and help build strong relationships
  • Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience working with young children preferred
  • Enthusiasm for early childhood education and patience with varying developmental levels
  • Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, positive attitude and willingness to follow program policies
  • Minimum age 18 CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications, or readiness to obtain within 90 days
