Overview

Job Description: Assist in fabrication, assembly, erection and installation of structures using standard carpentry tools and techniques to specified standards and level of craftsmanship.

• Reads and studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required and dimensions of structure for fixture to be fabricated.
• Selects specified type of materials.
• Prepares layout, using plans, tape measure, framing square, and calipers.
• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, scribe, marker or other marking utensils. Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws and drills.
• Marks materials as appropriate for assembly.
• Assembles materials and fastens them together with bolts and adhesives.
• Provides assembly and fabrication support to other craftsman as needed.
• Assists in keeping shop floor clean and orderly.
• Operates equipment confidently and safely.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• The candidate for this job must possess High school diploma or GED or three to six months’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Carpentry certificate received from trade school preferred.
• Six months to one year of work experience in carpentry shop preferred.
