Press Operator (2nd Shift) (Manufacturing)
OverviewThe Press Operator sets up and operates flexographic presses to produce quality products that meet customer and production standards while monitoring ink colors ensuring proper substrate cutting. The Press Operator collaborates with the team to maintain safety, efficiency, and product consistency in an inclusive work environment. Shift runs Monday through Friday, 2:45 - 11:15pm.
Responsibilities- Set up ink, tooling, and dies according to customer and production specifications, ensuring accurate substrate cutting.
- Replace master roll, remove waste, and stage materials as needed.
- Monitor and adjust ink colors and press settings to maintain consistency and quality throughout the run.
- Verify materials, color standards, and specifications match job requirements before and during production.
- Start and operate the press, achieving acceptable color, fit, registration, and position efficiently.
- Maintain proper running speeds, tension, and plate alignment; monitor and adjust for consistent, high-quality output with minimal waste.
- Perform quality checks, scan sheets for accuracy, and pull samples for Quality Assurance.
- Complete required paperwork and document material usage and time.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance, clean equipment and workstation, and assist with general area upkeep.
- Remove and clean plates, cylinders, and related press components as needed.
- Report inventory deficiencies to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Stage printer material for next department or process.
- Follow all department work instructions and ensure compliance with company safety rules and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or ExperienceThe minimum education required for this position is a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience with flexographic presses is highly preferred. Machine operation experience in a manufacturing setting is required.

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, safety guidelines, documentation, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and leadership when issues arise.
- Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills are a must.
- Basic proficiency in operating systems such as Radius or similar platforms preferred
- Ability to navigate menus, enter data accurately, and perform routine system tasks (such as logging production runs) preferred
Skills and Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and safety; ability to adapt to fast-paced and high-pressure environments; mechanical aptitude and understanding are a plus; must be able to maintain good attendance.
Physical DemandsStand, walk, carry, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use manual dexterity; grasp, reach, and lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly; 25 pounds frequently; 50 pounds occasionally. Close, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus. Climb, sit for long periods, and speak/articulate occasionally. Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work EnvironmentPress Operators are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and frequently encounter fumes or airborne particles. While the manufacturing area is climate controlled, employees may experience relatively warm or cold temperatures throughout the year. Additionally, the noise level in the work environment is usually loud; hearing protection is provided where necessary.
