Overview
The J.F. Berns Company manufactures high quality CNC Lathe and Bar Feeding accessories to increase your machining productivity. Products include spindle liners, bar chamfering machines, bar supports, spindle stops, draw tubes, draw bars, spindle extensions and special loaders and unloaders.
Experienced Mechanical design engineer needed to design automation machines and/or metalworking machines (chamfering machines) complete, as well as modifications of existing machinery. Great variety of projects, most are for automation machines with CNC Lathes and Mills in a work cell or special metalworking machines. Must have solid design skills, ability to develop creative solutions and able to do design calculations to ensure design integrity.
Experience in a manufacturing environment is required, knowledge of machine tools is a huge plus. Solid Works experience is required. Must also be able to interact with customers for both quoting and project managing. Responsibilities include new designs, design modifications, layouts and sales support.
JF Berns Company designs, manufactures, assembles, programs and wires the machines all within our own facility. Not only do you get to design the machines, you get to see them manufactured, built and tested in-house.

- Develop new designs, perform design modifications, create layouts and provide sales support.
- Work on a variety of projects, including automation cells with CNC Lathes and Mills, and other special metalworking machines.
- Interact with customers for quoting and project management as part of the design process.
- Proficient at Solid Works (minimum 10 years experience).
- Mechanical design expertise.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to calculate loads, torques, and perform vector analysis to support design elements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.
- Must be proficient at verbal and written communications.
