Position: CNC MILL OPERATOR - SECOND SHIFT

Job Title:

CNC Mill Operator - 2ND SHIFT

The CNC Mill Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position ensures quality, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards while maintaining equipment and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines (3-axis and/or 4/5-axis)
  • Load programs, verify correct revision, and make approved offset adjustments
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
  • Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools
  • Monitor machine performance and detect malfunctions
  • Replace tooling, set tool lengths and offsets as required
  • Maintain proper documentation (job travelers, inspection sheets, etc.)
  • Maintain clean and organized work area (5S standards)
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Communicate production or quality concerns to supervisor or quality department
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years CNC milling experience (or equivalent technical training)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges
  • Basic understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling
  • Ability to perform basic math and decimal conversions
  • Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Fanuc, Haas, or similar controls
  • Setup experience (fixture mounting, tool setting, probing)
  • Experience running tight-tolerance parts (±.001" or better)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Lift up to 30 lbs
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of parts
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with noise and coolant exposure
