Summary
Weld metal parts together as specified using an Electron Beam (EB) welder. The job duties include, but are not limited to: setting up and operating the EB welder according to specifications, including equipment set‑up, loading/unloading parts, monitoring the welding process and making adjustments to equipment as necessary; reading and interpreting drawings and specification sheets; inspecting and checking dimensions using precision gauges and measuring instruments;
making adjustments to equipment to ensure quality parts are produced; completing production and labor reports; completing preventive maintenance procedures.
- Clean and prepare all detail materials for EB weld processing.
- Position and fasten work pieces onto holding fixtures.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories onto machines.
- Follow the customer's specific instructions and specifications.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
- Prepare and analyze necessary weld specimens to determine weld characteristics and adjust weld settings to achieve desired results with assistance from QC personnel and the EB supervisor.
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Perform basic machine maintenance as required to maintain part quality and quantity standards.
- Perform troubleshooting and provide technical assistance as assigned by the EB supervisor.
- Operate all in‑house welding equipment.
- Maintain records and document in‑process inspection data as required.
- Work with a variety of materials, including steel, copper, aluminum, titanium, Inconel and other precious metals.
- Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
- Report any irregularity to Lead person for management.
- Promote safety and good housekeeping practices.
- Work in a manner consistent with the EMS.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
- Work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co‑workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- Assume responsibility for the care and treatment of customer inventory in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
- Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident card holders.
- Education:
high school diploma or equivalent. - One year of GTAW or TIG welding experience and some aerospace industry experience desired but not required.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Knowledge and hands‑on experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in an office/industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and files.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
