About the Role: As a Forklift Driver in the manufacturing industry based in Fairfield, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials within the production facility. Your primary objective will be to operate forklifts to load, unload, and transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment to designated locations. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and maintain a secure working environment.
You will collaborate closely with warehouse staff, production teams, and logistics personnel to support seamless manufacturing operations and maintain production schedules and overall operational efficiency.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Must show proof of being forklift certified from previous employers within the last 2 years.
- Basic understanding of safety regulations related to forklift operation.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and inventory documents.
- Valid driver license
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Experience with different types of forklifts, including electric and propane-powered models.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members.
- Additional safety training or certifications related to material handling.
- Operate forklifts to move materials safely and efficiently within the manufacturing facility.
- Load and unload goods from delivery trucks and storage areas.
- Inspect forklifts daily to ensure they are in safe working condition and report any maintenance needs.
- Organize and stack materials in designated storage locations to optimize space and accessibility.
- Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to prioritize material handling tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved and report any discrepancies or damages.
Skills: Forklift operation and safety compliance are essential; attention to detail and the ability to read work orders help in accurately transporting the correct items. Physical stamina and coordination are needed to manage the demands of operating heavy machinery and performing manual tasks. Familiarity with warehouse management systems enhances inventory tracking and logistics, while effective communication supports collaboration and coordination.
