Regulatory Compliance Specialist
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sanitation Supervisor to oversee and manage all sanitation activities within our wholesale bakery. This role ensures compliance with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and all applicable food safety regulations. The ideal candidate will lead a sanitation team, maintain a clean and audit-ready facility, and implement effective cleaning and safety protocols to safeguard product quality and employee safety.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily sanitation operations across the bakery, ensuring all equipment, production areas, and storage spaces meet established hygiene standards.
- Manage, train, and support a sanitation team, including scheduling, assignment delegation, and performance monitoring.
- Maintain and ensure completion of the Master Sanitation Schedule, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks.
- Conduct self-inspections and internal audits to validate sanitation effectiveness (visual inspections, ATP swabs, and microbial/allergen sampling).
- Develop, update, and enforce Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
- Ensure compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and FDA regulations.
- Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Production, Maintenance, and external contractors to address sanitation and food safety issues.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning, chemical use, and sanitation inspections.
- Identify process improvements to enhance sanitation, reduce downtime, and mitigate food safety risk.
- Assist in audits and inspections by third-party certification bodies, ensuring the facility remains audit-ready at all times.
- Participate in corrective action investigations and documentation following any non-conformance events.
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3
-5 years of food manufacturing experience, including supervisory experience in sanitation or quality roles within a bakery or food production facility. - SQF and HACCP knowledge and experience required.
- Strong understanding of GMP, SSOPs, and food safety regulations.
- Experience managing sanitation personnel and coordinating multi-shift operations.
- Proficiency in documenting cleaning activities and following chemical handling safety requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-temperature, wet, and physically demanding environments.
- Experience with forklift operation or willingness to be trained.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capacity to work around heavy machinery in a fast-paced industrial environment.
