Summary

Through both training and direct field ministry experience, learn how to participate in effective Young Life ministry.

Mission Statement

Young Life requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith. Employees must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord and subscribe to Young Life’s policies. All staff and volunteers shall be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions as required; shall refrain from conduct that detracts from biblical standards; and shall abide by all policies.

Ministry

Functions
  • Spiritual Development – "Following Jesus" includes prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships. Develop a yearly personal growth plan, seek and maintain relationships, actively participate in the spiritual life of the community, and lead teams in spiritual development.
  • Leadership Development – "Equipping leaders, committee and staff" includes volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting. Meet with volunteer leaders and area leadership, recruit and train new leaders, model excellence in contact work, and attend area leadership assignments.
  • Resource Development – "Fueling the ministry" includes events, major donor care, public relations, and TDS team. Raise financial support, maintain donor care practices, communicate updates, assist with camp fundraisers, and attend occasional committees.
  • Direct Ministry – "Proclaiming and modeling" includes contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp. Engage in all contact levels, lead a ministry team, and potentially serve on summer staff per area director direction.
  • Ministry Support – "Taking care of business" includes accounting, administration, communication, data management, and strategic planning. Adhere to policies, set ministry and personal goals, assist in office administration, complete expense reports, and perform duties as assigned.
Training

Mission wide training:
None required or recommended.
Regional training:
None. Certain regional events may be required at the director’s prerogative.
Area training:
Individualized assignments under the area director or mentor, focusing on spiritual maturity, ministry skills, and fundraising principles.

Education

Pursuing a college degree.

Qualifications
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
