The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands‑on nursing care to ambulatory and non‑ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA also aids residents in achieving the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.

• Assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to residents’ call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety, and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby, and activities).
• Report any significant findings/observations to the nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer, and discharge for a smooth transition.
• Safeguard residents’ personal possessions.
• Keep resident rooms neat and safe.
• Follow proper infection control techniques.
• Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
• Re‑teach residents to perform ADL skills.
• Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensure follow‑up occurs.
• Converse with residents and families; assist them in adjusting to the community.
• Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of residents; report deviations from norm to the Charge Nurse promptly.
• Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output, and weight measurements accurately.

• Certified and state‑tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of employment; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
