the deputy bailiff/court security officer assists the bailiff with the security of the court building to include metal detector operations, service of civil/criminal subpoenas, handling and transporting prisoners, immobilizing impounded vehicles, and any other job function as deemed necessary for the court's efficient and safe operation. Reports to the bailiff and court administrator.
hours: this is a part-time position and hours worked cannot exceed 1,500 per year. Currently, the deputy bailiffs are assigned to work monday through thursday or tuesday through friday. The court is currently open monday through friday from 7:00 a.m. To 4:30 p.m.
examples of dutiesphysical requirements and working conditions: the work is performed in an office environment, courtroom, jail/holding facility and outdoor where the physical demands require sitting and standing for extended periods of time; may include exposure to potential personal danger. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and to communicate effectively with others in person.
Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written materials on a computer. Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to use a firearm safely and effectively, to direct people and utilize equipment required for the performance of duties.
Sufficient ability and strength to lift, carry, or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds for varying distances.
nature of "at-will" employment: the person employed serves solely at the pleasure of the judge. "at will" positions can be terminated or modified without cause with no recourse, totally upon the discretion of the judge and/or her designee(s).
the person selected will undergo a background investigation, drug screen and be subject to random drug testing during employment.
