Position SummaryResponsible for supervision and training of drivers at Operating Company (OpCo), and for ensuring deliveries are made safely, efficiently, and on time. Assists with monitoring Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ensures drivers comply with all DOT and OpCo regulations, and coordinates the tracking of all relevant information on drivers. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
MajorFunctional Responsibilities
- Supervise associates including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution. Assist in scheduling and ensure deliveries and pickups occur on time; ride with drivers for training and evaluation.
- Assist Transportation/Operations Manager with day‑to‑day administration of transportation and delivery functions, such as calculating driver payroll, reviewing driver trip logs and expense reports, identifying and resolving issues, and ensuring driver compliance with DOT and OpCo regulations. Operate computer keyboard to enter and access data in the automated fleet management system.
- Ensure drivers perform duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, correct use of ramps and handcarts, seat/weight belt use, and safe lifting and product‑handling practices. Attend quarterly safety meetings as needed.
- Coordinate tracking of all relevant driver information such as license status, traffic tickets, accidents, and other risk and safety data.
- Ensure accurate completion of all delivery and driver‑related paperwork including invoices, cash receipts, collection registers, trip reports, fuel tickets, deposit slips, DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), driver qualification files, and accident reporting. Maintain all trucks, tractors, and trailers through detailed review of post‑trip inspections.
- Work with the Transportation or Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and ensure deliveries are efficiently routed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience. - Experience:
2–4 years in transportation or related field, knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, and experience operating computerized fleet management systems.
