Position Overview
Truck Driver II
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Maps out all accounts and optimizes routes
- Loads and unloads materials
- Ensures DOT compliance
- Identifies outliers and determines efficient delivery methods
- Reviews all paperwork before trucks leave (calling customers, verifying COD’s arrival times, etc.)
- Checks truck back in, returns, ensuring proper paperwork is completed
- Schedules flatbeds as needed
- “Dispatcher” keeping constant communication with drivers on the road
- Drives truck to destinations and returns safely
- Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations
- Prepares and maintains required documentation
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies
- Performs emergency roadside repairs
- Positions hazardous material trailer identification
- Reads maps and plans routes to the load destination
- Maintains an acceptable driving record
- Assists the needs of the customer
- Assists in the distribution center as necessary or directed
- Performs other tasks as required
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation and state regulations, and local laws pertaining to vehicle operations
- Knowledge of truck hauling procedures
- Knowledge of hazardous waste materials and safe handling procedures
- Skill in operating lift trucks
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other rules/regulations governing work activities
- High School Graduate or GED
- Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s license
- Hazardous material endorsement and Tanker Endorsement
- 3+ years
- 18‑wheeler experience
- No chargeable accidents or citations in five years
- Performing tasks with team members which includes lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50lbs
- Continuous physical exertion such as walking and standing throughout the day is also required
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste management, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff.
