The Business Office Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring efficient administrative operations within our fast-paced Ambulatory Surgery Center. Responsibilities include patient check-in, data entry, reception management, document handling, and administrative support across various business office functions. The ideal candidate is highly organized and customer-focused with prior experience in a healthcare or business office setting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Entry & Records Management
* Accurately enter and update patient, vendor, and employee data in electronic systems.
* Review data for accuracy, ensuring HIPAA and confidentiality compliance.
* Organize, scan, and maintain both physical and digital records.
* Generate internal reports as needed.
2. Front Desk & Customer Service
* Greet and assist patients, visitors, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner.
* Answer and route calls; take and relay accurate messages.
* Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and gather required documentation.
* Maintain reception area appearance and manage visitor protocols.
* Process mail and deliveries efficiently.
3. General Office Support
* Perform administrative duties such as copying, faxing, and document preparation.
* Track office supplies.
* Assist with record management, and compliance documentation.
* Support the facility's adherence to The Joint Commission, HIPAA, and internal policies.
* Provide additional clerical support as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Dependable with strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work (5:30 AM- 2:00 PM) shift
Preferred:
* 2 years' experience in a healthcare, administrative, or customer service role.
* Experience with data entry and document management.
