Position: Instructional Aide (PT)- Adult Education (Fairhope)

The Instructional Aide works under the daily supervision of a qualified instructor. The Instructional Aide may provide one-on-one instruction at the discretion of the instructor or program director.

Hourly Rate: $16.00 (Up to 19 hours per week). (100% Grant Funded)

Core Responsibilities
  • The Instructional Aide serves as an effective member of the instructional team to ensure the success of all students.
  • Carries out the preparation of instructional materials for use by the instructor.
  • Monitors and observes student behaviors and shares observations with the instructor.
  • Assists instructor in providing individual support for student and in checking for understanding of instructional materials. Assists in providing non-instructional support for students.
  • Organizes, uses and maintains supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Understands community resources and discusses possible referrals with the instructor.
  • Assists instructor in implementing, recording and monitoring student educational plan.
  • Assists instructor in administering, scoring and evaluating diagnostic tests.
  • Assists instructor in preparing student folders and maintaining records of student progress.
  • Assists instructor in collecting data for reports. Understands and uses the AAESAP data system.

  • Provides responsible, appropriate, and satisfactory leadership on campus and within the College.
  • Communicates positively and professionally in all aspects of the position.
  • Attends all staff meetings, College meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with all pertinent state and national policies and complies with said policies.
  • Serves on and provide information to college committees as needed.
  • Complies with ACCS and College policies, as well as state and federal laws.
  • Ensures the positive promotion of the College and integration of all campuses within the College.
  • Is prompt and punctual in reporting for work, meetings, and office hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to work days/nights and multiple locations (up to 19 hours per week).
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, presentational, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with technology.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in an innovative team environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Teaching experience at the K-12 or postsecondary level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Adult Education and life-long learning.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
  • Commitment to all students and faculty including those of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
  • An understanding of the broad range of students' abilities in an open admissions college and the ability to communicate to the community college student population.
  • Proven successful teaching experience at the community college level.
  • Experience in multimedia presentation of classroom lectures and laboratory activities.
  • Demonstrated speaking and writing skills.
  • Coastal Alabama Community College is a multi‑campus organization and employees may be assigned to work at any of the College worksites, may be required to travel among various work sites for both day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, and must provide their own mode of transportation.
