Overview
BandS Machine Shop has employment opportunities for up and coming Conventional Machinists. We are recruiting Apprentice Machinists, looking for full-time employment, who have basic skills, want to grow and expand their trade, and are looking for hands-on manufacturing. Over time this opportunity can grow into programming and operating CNC Lathes and CNC Milling Machines. Candidates with strong mechanical skills are encouraged to call for an interview.

- Set up and operate a well equipped, well tooled conventional lathe to manufacture parts such as shafts, shaft sleeves, couplings, flanges and other cylindrically shaped parts.
- Work from drawings and use shop travelers for detailed directions.
- Manufacture parts with critical diameters as tight as .0005" and non-critical dimensions as loose as .032" while maintaining required surface finishes.
- Inspect and measure parts using micrometers and precision tools; tools are provided and calibrated in-house to ensure accuracy.
- Operate with materials including 400 and 300 Series Stainless Steel and a variety of steels, bronzes, and occasionally plastics.
- Apprentice Machinist or entry-level candidate with basic mechanical skills and a desire to grow in hands-on manufacturing.
- Strong work ethic and good communication skills.
BandS Machine provides all micrometers and precision measuring tools, calibrated in-house. Machinists are required to supply personal tools such as a roll around tool box, dial indicators, hand wrenches, dial/digital calipers, deburring knife, Allen wrenches (English and metric), non-marring hammers, scribes, punches, edge/center finders, etc. The company offers payroll deduction to help employees purchase necessary tools. Good communication is a must here at BandS Machine Shop.
Scheduleand Benefits
The workday starts at 7:00 AM with a scheduled break at 8:45 AM, lunch at 11:30 AM (30 minutes), and an afternoon run ending with the Final Bell at 3:30 PM. Normally we work 5 days a week. Overtime is always available and sometimes necessary to meet shipments and customer demands.

Location and Work EnvironmentLocated in the Sunny South, the facility is air-conditioned to reduce fatigue and provide a comfortable work environment in hot weather.
