Purpose of PositionTo clean parts and components for Segers Aero Corporation customer aircraft and engine, engine accessories and propellers. This position may work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and products to perform required tasks. The position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations, and as such, the position is subject to drug and alcohol testing per DOT FAA regulations.
Essential Functions- Cleans aviation parts with PRF
680 (mineral spirit), glass and plastic bead. - Prepares for painting by cleaning, stripping, sanding, or chemically treating if needed.
- Preps accessory parts (clean, tape, aluminum prep, alodine) for paint.
- Cleans prep area before, after, and during operations.
- Maintains a clean workstation free from foreign objects and/or debris (FOD), ensures tooling is properly stored.
- Maintains a clean/safe workspace free from spills or obstructions which may lead to harm.
- Properly disposes of excess materials throughout the operation.
- Works in accordance with applicable FAR’s, bulletins, maintenance manuals and acceptable practices.
- Must be able to perform duties with little or no supervision.
- Works to production schedule as directed by manager/lead.
- Must read routing tags/sheets/traveler and follow directives.
- Travels as required.
- Confers with manager/lead to recommend changes such as equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of the department and promote improvement.
- Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner.
- Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy.
- Works overtime as needed.
- Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields, etc.).
- Must be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
- Must be able to work with little or no supervisor and to take initiative.
- Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors.
- Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
- Must be able to apply common sense.
- Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English.
- Must be proficient in company‑specific software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs.
- Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally.
- Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses.
- Must be able to hear running machinery.
- Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.
- Must have exceptional eye‑hand coordination.
- Must regularly be able to reach overhead.
- Must be able to stand, walk, reach overhead, squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs as needed.
- Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.
- Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years or older and a High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional hands‑on experience, including manual work or entry level craftsmanship required.
