Carpentry And Street Construction Maintenance Worker
Under the supervision of the Streets & Facilities Supervisor, the employee performs the full range of general carpentry skills ranging from new construction to basic repair including rough and finish carpentry. The employee performs complex and specialized building maintenance tasks in the areas of cabinetmaking, carpentry, building structural systems, roofing, and building finishes. The employee also constructs concrete forms for sidewalk installation and repair, storm drains, and curbs throughout the City.
Employee receives assignments from supervisor and is responsible for ensuring materials, equipment, and supplies are obtained for work assignment. The employee organizes project assignments and maintains records and daily logs for the duration of an assignment. The employee performs manual labor, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting. Work is performed under established procedures with regular inspections during progress with final inspection of completed work.
This is a fully qualified job in the construction and maintenance job classification. The employee may also operate equipment on a job site to the level the employee is trained. This job is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-employment background check and random drug screens.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
General Carpentry. Employee performs the full range master carpentry skills from rough construction up to and including finish work. Employee builds and repairs City structures and buildings, cabinets and select furniture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
Street Construction and Maintenance Work. Employee performs concrete form layout and constructs forms for sidewalk repair, storm drains, curbing, and drain boxes. May operate various equipment in support of street maintenance operations.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
Possess a high school diploma or GED. Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in the construction and maintenance field; or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the above listed knowledge, skills, and abilities commensurate with the requirements of this job. Possess a current and valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain this license within six (6) months or employment;
must be insurable. Ability to work non-standard hours and be on-call. Ability to travel overnight. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.
