Ross is a leading off‑price retail chain with over 2,200 stores, known for delivering high‑quality brands at extraordinary savings. The Retail Associate supports the store’s mission by creating a positive shopping experience for customers.

Role Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures customers receive a courteous and friendly experience, maintains store presentation, and follows all company policies and best practices across all store areas.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain a safe and secure sales floor, keeping egress clear and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Greet all customers, assist with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Handle customer service inquiries promptly and involve leadership when necessary.
  • Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning and merchandising tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, cleaning mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
  • Carry out daily inventory tasks including sizing, recovery, and receipt processing to maintain a neat, organized store.
  • Apply loss‑prevention procedures, follow store protection policies, and safeguard cash and confidential information.
  • Adhere to all cash handling and transaction procedures, maintaining accuracy and awareness.
  • Execute responsibilities with a sense of urgency and efficiency, maximizing productivity.

Qualifications

Effective communication with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly, respectful, and cooperative manner.

Basic mathematical calculations common in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use store equipment such as registers, PETs, and PCs as required.
  • Stand, walk, and move throughout the store for 100% of working time.
  • Perform regular bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, carrying, reaching, and stooping.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Utilize janitorial equipment, rolling racks, and ladders as needed.
  • Stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds regularly.

Compensation

and Benefits

Base pay range: $17.65 – $18.15 per hour, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority and location. Store and exempt corporate associates may receive a performance‑based bonus.
