Job Summary
The Buyer is accountable for the execution of material requirements planning policies and Purchase Order transactions. Working independently, the Buyer will use judgment and discretion for large dollar purchase orders and will ensure quality standards and cost containment parameters are maintained.
Job DescriptionAs a Buyer, you will be responsible for carrying out procurement activities in line with company purchasing policies and procedures, optimizing price, delivery, and terms, and ensuring customer satisfaction while staying within inventory goals.
Duties & Responsibilities- Purchase materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures (optimize price, delivery, and terms).
- Ensure customer satisfaction while staying within company inventory goals.
- Analyze selected manufactured and purchased products to determine proper lot sizing, safety stock levels, Kanban levels, and planning horizons.
- Identify potential suppliers and issue requests for quotations, analyze and select suppliers, issue purchase orders, follow‑up and expedite as necessary, investigate and qualify suppliers.
- Utilize MRP and Kanban reports to make decisions on frequencies and quantities of orders.
- Select suppliers based on departmental guidelines and vendor capabilities/history, place orders, and track orders from placement to receipt and acceptance.
- Handle return or rework of material declared surplus due to engineering changes or order cancellations.
- Initiate/open purchase orders to meet need dates, accounting for safety stock, inventory levels, and lot sizing.
- Ensure purchasing standards are met to buy quality products, delivered on time, at a fair market price.
- Identify key problem areas and develop actions to prevent future problems.
- Serve as internal expert and reliable resource on specific commodities (electronics, metals, etc.) to assist manufacturing and engineering in product alternatives.
- Interface directly with sales and resolve internal issues quickly and diplomatically.
- Ensure fairness and accountability in dealings with suppliers and all departments or individuals doing business with the Materials Department.

Education: High school graduate. Associates degree in Business or related field (or related experience) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in a business setting; experience in a manufacturing organization helpful. Minimum two years of previous material control and buying experience preferred.
Pay Range$61,920 - $92,880
