This job is a dual role:
Computer Teacher/Technology Assistant who will provide technology instruction to students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade while supporting the effective integration, maintenance, and use of instructional technology throughout the district. The employee will deliver standards-based computer science and digital literacy instruction aligned with the Illinois Learning Standards, Illinois School Code, and District curriculum goals while assisting staff and students with technology-related needs.
Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s) or qualifications as required by Illinois School Code.
- Knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards for Computer Science and Digital Literacy.
- Experience working with elementary and middle school students.
- Strong technology skills, including Google Workspace for Education.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
- Previous experience teaching K-8 computer science, technology, STEM, coding, robotics, or digital literacy.
- Experience with Chromebooks, iPads, Windows devices, and educational technology platforms.
- Experience providing technology support in a school environment.
- Knowledge of learning management systems and educational software.
- Experience with Google Workspace administration, device management systems, or educational technology troubleshooting.
- Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
- Plan and deliver engaging technology instruction for students in grades K-8.
- Develop lessons aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Computer Science and Digital Literacy.
- Teach digital citizenship, internet safety, keyboarding, productivity tools, coding, computational thinking, and emerging technologies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology into curriculum and instruction.
- Support district initiatives related to STEM, computer science, and digital learning.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
- Serve as a building technology resource for staff and students.
- Provide first-level troubleshooting and support for classroom technology, Chromebooks, iPads, computers, printers, and instructional software.
- Assist with technology inventory, deployment, collection, and maintenance.
- Support administration of technology-based assessments, including state and local assessments.
- Assist with setup and support of audiovisual equipment and presentations.
- Collaborate with the Director of Information Technology regarding technology initiatives and projects.
- Provide training and support to staff regarding instructional technology tools and best practices.
- Assist with device enrollment, account support, and basic technology management tasks as assigned.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and district initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with Board policies, Illinois School Code, and district procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
- Ability to move throughout the school building.
- Ability to lift and carry technology equipment up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
Salary and benefits per the Teacher's Contract - 180 school days plus the potential for summer employment as the Technology Assistant. $52,002 to $70,498, depending on degrees and years of experience. Fairmont School District 89 offers up to 10 years of experience.

8 am-3 pm - Monday-Friday, except on days when there are staff, mentoring, or committee meetings, which are held from 3 pm-4 pm. Late hours for P/T conferences and Parent Literacy or Math Nights, and 8th Grade Graduation are required.
Summer Technology StipendIn addition to the regular school-year assignment, the employee may be offered the opportunity to perform summer technology support duties, including device preparation, inventory management, software deployment, classroom technology setup, summer technology projects, and related technology support activities. Compensation for such duties shall be provided through a separate stipend approved by the Superintendent and Board of Education, subject to district needs, available funding, and annual Board approval.
