Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide academic support and assistance to students in the College of Education, including PRAXIS Core and PRAXIS subject prep, and general courses related to the tutor's specialization.
* Explain concepts and review material with students in one-on-one or small group settings.
* Assist students in developing study skills and organizational strategies.
* Monitor student progress and adjust tutoring methods as needed.
* Refer students as needed to other Center or campus resources.
* Consult with faculty for course resources, guidance, and direction in their tutoring work. Communicate feedback with faculty to ensure effective support for students.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.
* Serve as positive role models and mentors, promoting a positive learning environment and academic success for all students.
* Assist in LEAD Center marketing efforts including introducing themselves to the classes they are tutoring for and making classroom announcements for LEAD Center programs.
Minimum Qualifications
* Currently enrolled undergraduate Fairmont State student or graduate student who completed their bachelor's at Fairmont State University
* Minimum QPA of 3.0 or bachelor's degree in the discipline. Undergraduate students have received an B or better in the course(s) you intend to support.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Good organizational and time management skills
* A commitment to helping other students learn.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.
* Be empathetic, a good listener and patient with others.
* Satisfactory completion of the training program.
