Position Details
Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher (Position Number P27-402-69, Job ) – Middle School Teaching/ Special Education Teacher – Romney Middle School, Hampshire County Schools – School Year.
EmploymentTerm:
Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment days may be established by HCBOE.
FLSA Status:
Exempt.
Salary:
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Hampshire County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level plus a competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
Provide appropriate instruction to students and ensure that students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level/subject area.
Performance Responsibilities- Responsible for planning and implementing WV academic standards, content, and objectives.
- Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs.
- Responsible for implementing technology skills.
- Responsible for planning and implementing inclusion with special education students.
- Responsible for student achievement.
- Responsible for planning and implementing co‑teaching as appropriate.
- Analyze data and plan academic support.
- Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction.
- Responsible for planning and implementing designated co‑curricular activities and/or programs at the school such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips.
- Responsible for administering formative assessments.
- Responsible for planning and implementing personalized learning.
- Communicate with students, parents, and peers in an efficient manner.
- Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Address and implement students' IEPs and 504 Plans and recommend revisions when needed.
- Meet professional responsibilities.
- Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct.
- Implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement.
- Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal.
Valid Professional Teaching Certification:
Special Education; pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2. Autism Certification required or enrollment in coursework within the first semester of employment. Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10. Must meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a. Ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves at least 10 pounds of materials. Additional duties include reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, writing, talking, hearing, seeing, using technology such as computers and multimedia equipment, and repetitive motions.
Vision abilities required include close vision to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment is predominantly indoor with occasional outdoor activities such as recess and field trips. Noise levels are low to moderate (20‑60 dB) in most areas; gymnasiums and vocational/technical laboratories may have moderate to loud (60‑90 dB) noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
